The Best Photography Props for Bloggers

Being a blogger means that you’re creative and never run out of new ideas, right? LOLNO… well sometimes. Other times things all start to look the same and you find yourself in a creative funk. I’m here to help. Blogging is one of the most rewarding fields as far as getting to use your creativity goes. However, it is hard to keep posting pictures to both Instagram and your website that look different. & that’s why we’re here today! Sometimes spicing up your blog and Instagram photos is as easy, but sometimes it takes something more. Like… propsNo, not babies and puppies. Although they are cute, they should not be exploited for likes as much as they are these days… just my opinion.

Anyway… Why is this important? Having content that all looks the same can scare away potential partnerships and followers. Plus, being creative is a large part of being a blogger, but it’s not always easy to show creativity or individuality in #outfitinspo or product ad posts. Adding props to photos is a great way to spice things up, not to mention they often make captioning the photo ten times easier. Here are a few photo shoot prop ideas for bloggers in any field:

1. Flowers

Most cliché prop ever? Maybe. Flower pictures are an awesome way to show your personality in a picture. Pick your favorite color, flower or style and BAM! your pictures have something other than just a person standing in another weird Instagram outfit.

2. Food

Don’t be afraid to eat in front of your followers, or on a first date for that matter. Food is your friend. People relate to food. Food means likes. In the words of the great April Ludgate Dwyer “time is money, money is power, power is pizza, pizza is knowledge”. I also just gave you a bonus caption idea… you’re welcome!

3. Accessories

Sunglasses, hats & bags to name a few. They can all be worn or held in different ways to give certain shots a unique look. Swing your bag to add movement. Look down over your shades for some attitude. Make your shoes or tights the center of the photo. The possibilities are endless.

4, Electronics

It’s 2018… when are you not on your cellphone? Bloggers spend a ton of time on their phone networking, answering emails and checking blog stats… why not show the real you? It’s why your followers follow you. I’ve also taken my camera to shoots and have gotten awesome content back from that as well. Laptops and iPads are two other good ideas as props for content posts.

5. Beverages

Whether its coffee on a Monday or alcohol on a Wednesday… it’s all about being real, relatable and showing what you love. Pick up your favorite coffee or other beverage before you head to your shoot! Add some variety to those pics, but don’t make yourself look too thirsty. Hehehe

As always, I hope you found this helpful! Please comment any other props that you LOVE to use, I would appreciate more ideas. Don’t forget to subscribe to my email list for first peaks at campaigns and get exclusive discount codes!
